The Department of Fashion and Apparel Design was set up in 2005 with an intake capacity of 60 and the current intake is 60 students for FAD programme, affiliated to Bangalore University.
The department is supported by experienced; highly qualified and experienced in related industries also the faculty is committed to the cause of quality education. The department organizes workshops, seminars and invites guest talks from experts frequently from Industries like Texport Syndicate, Texport Garments, Silvers Spark, Amith Garments and AEPC. The main medium of ensuring practical teaching is through various industrial visits to students. This perhaps encourages students to inculcate industrial, practical and updated with the present technologies which provides a scope for creativity for innovation. We are proud to state that nearly 50% of our students get employed through campus placements and faculty references in premier Textile and Garment Industries. We have a unique practice at the department. We focus on enriching the competency of our faculty members, students and our research scholars through workshops, FDPs, and National/International Conferences. We have conducted a series of internal talks to share the updated technologies.
Eligibility : A candidate who has passed Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion & Apparel Design (B.Sc., FAD) or Bachelors of Arts (BA) with 50% in aggregate of all subjects (45% for SC/ST and Category I candidates), of Bangalore University or any other university from India, considered as equivalent thereto are eligible to admission to M.Sc. FAD Course.
