Aeronautics (from the ancient Greek words ὰήρ āēr, which means "air", and ναυτική nautikē which means "navigation", i.e. "navigation of the air") is the science, technique or art involved with the study, design, and manufacturing of air flight-capable machines. It also includes technology, business and other aspects related to aircraft and rockets within the atmosphere.
"The Department of Aeronautical Engineering is committed to foster the technical growth of students for an ever-changing society."
“The Department of Aeronautical Engineering provides a learning environment to the students for achieving intellectual and personal development for the next generation of Aeronautical Systems.”
Started in the year 2011, the department of Aeronautical Engineering has over the years adapted and improved with the fast pace of technology. Under the
affiliation of Visveswaraya Technological University, the department runs academic program for the degree of Bachelor in Engineering (B.E.) A sincere and
hardworking student body and wholehearted support of the dedicated faculty have contributed in no small measure to the professional successes enjoyed by a
good number of individuals who graduated from this department. The department has been continually changing and evolving to meet the needs of modern industry
and to train its students to pursue their goals with concentrated determination that has led former students to the greatest heights in their endeavor no
matter what responsibility they choose to assume. With rapid changes in the professional world, the department has also focused on the drawing of the information
age and has established a university approved syllabus. The Centre for Aeronautics has access to a wide range of industry-standard experimental facilities
which have been extensively used for research and consultancy for various sectors. The laboratory facilities are established with the aim of supplying our
students with every tool they need to succeed in the fast changing landscape of the modern professional arena. The key laboratories are Propulsion lab,
Structures lab and Aerodynamics lab. The faculty members of the department actively carry out research in key areas. Thus the department ensures the students
the versatility to adapt to the dynamic and fast moving world and its many industries.
All the reputed organizations are drawn to the College for campus recruitment. To achieve its goal, the Training & Placement Cell works towards recognizing
the core competencies of students. It works through a close knit organization and has a structure which conveys information to the students at the fastest
possible rate. The prestigious department is actively involved in hosting many additional training programs, workshops, guest lectures, technical talks ,
seminars for students to provide a platform for the budding engineers to interact with professionals from various industries. The aero modeling club ‘UDAAN’
of the department encourages students to participate in both in-house and outside competitions to design, make and fly gliders, quad copters and next-gen aircrafts models.
The department has been interacting with aerospace industries such as National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL),
Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), Air India Limited, Air force Technical College (AFTC). The department has tied-up with industries to
enhance skill development and to collaborate on research.
