Prof. S. Shiva Kumar passed B.Arch in 1972 from Bangalore University securing Second Rank. He did his M.Arch (Village & Town Planning) from I.I.T, Roorkee in 1974 securing First Rank & University Gold Medal. From 1974 to 1980, Prof Shiva Kumar worked with the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India as an Architect & Town Planner. He was Assistant Professor of Architecture in C.E.P.T, Ahmedabad during 1980-82. He has undergone higher studies at the Institute for Housing & Urban Development Studies (I.H.S), Rotterdam during 1978-79, University of Bradford, U.K & Ngee Polytechnic, Singapore.
He worked in the Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India as a senior Scientist for over 24 years. During 1994-96, he worked as HUDCO Chair Professor of Urban Management at the Administrative Training Institute, Mysore in a capacity building programme to train Municipal officials in Urban Infrastructure development and to set up the State Institute for Urban Development.
After taking voluntary retirement from Government of India in 2006, he has worked as Professor of Architecture at M.S.R.I.T, D.S.C.E, taught as a visiting Professor at SPA, Delhi & B.M.S.C.E. Bangalore. He has registered for PhD at Visvesvaraya Technological University in 2007.He is nominated as an expert on the Board of Studies of the Department of Urban Planning of the School of Planning & Architecture.

It is natural for Acharya Institutes to have a School of Architecture in its campus since its very presence is felt through its imposing and intelligently designed buildings and facilities.
Unique as it is, the sprawling 120 acre campus of Acharya offers excellent practical learning ambience to the students of architecture. The campus is a cluster of manifestations of various ideas in architecture - encompassing construction, conveniences, traffic, landscape, communication, environmental concerns, academics, sports, shows and events, congregations, etc.
In fact the Acharya campus has seen regular visit of many students from various school of architecture from both within India and abroad who have been inspired by the design, form and shapes in the campus.
