The Programme
Objectives of the Bachelor 0f Architecture Degree programme are:
To impart quality education to students for their creative career in Architecture through formal classroom teaching and practical field exposure.
To reinforce intellectual capabilities, stimulate sensitivity, unveil creative talents and develop proficiency in professional skills to enable graduates to competently pursue various specializations within the broad spectrum of Built Environment.
To provide opportunities to students to evolve as practitioners, the role they will eventually play as responsible members of society and profession.
To equip with appropriate skills, understanding & knowledge and also deep commitment to professed ideals.
To attain a high level of excellence in architectural design that forms the core of the programme with supportive inputs from other subjects.
Course structure
The academic programme is spread over 10 semesters, there being two stages viz., Stage 1 and Stage 2. Stage 1 constitutes first semester to sixth semester and Stage 2 constitutes seventh semester to tenth semester. During the Ninth and Tenth semesters, the candidate shall undergo professional training and there shall be a project work (Thesis) in the Eighth semester. To achieve excellence in architectural design emphasis is given for working as a team and individually. As per market demand, emphasis is given to work on computers and IT based information.
Career Scope
Architecture today is recognized as an intellectual discipline and a creative profession. Architects have to give their vital contribution in the shaping of environment and society, in the design and technology for a diverse range of situations both in the urban and rural contexts. In India we have further complexities of different social, cultural, geographical, economic and technical aspects, which are unique and typical of every region in the country. Given the complexities of present day design projects, the architect’s role is that of a team leader and coordinator of the input of specialists of various disciplines. Architect needs to possess a sound knowledge of all aspects of modern building technology, project management and execution to be able to draw up an integrated framework for activities of other members of the team, to direct them and to assume overall responsibility for the collective efforts.
