The Programme
Mechanical Engineering, the broadest of all Engineering Disciplines deals with the Design, Construction, Development and manufacturing process of tools and machinery. It also deals with installation, operation, maintenance and repair of Engines and machines.
The Diploma Programme provides a wide Spectrum of theoretical knowledge and hands on practice on all modern technology employed in mechanical engineering.
Features:
• Use the principals of mechanics and energy to design machine and processes
• Apply scientific methods to solve mechanical problems.
• Concerned with Design, manufacture and operation of a wide range of devices or systems that range from household articles to spacecraft
• An understanding of and the impact of engineering solutions in a global/societal context
The Technical Diploma programmes follow a wide spectrum of craft skills and project work within the various engineering options. In addition, thorough grounding is established in basic computing skills, engineering mathematics, engineering science and engineering drawing. A large part of the studies will be hands-on training in excellent workshops equipped to the highest standards. Theoretical studies are included to support practical work.
Career Scope
This academic qualification provides good opportunity to work mainly in manufacturing firms where the skill and knowledge of Planning, Designing and Manufacturing are concerned. One can find careers in administrative and managerial positions as well. It also provides good grounding for higher studies.
The Diploma qualification provides a good grounding for students who wish to continue further studies or employment where the skills, knowledge and understanding of planning, designing, construction & manufacturing are useful. The programme will develop the student’s understanding for a full range of careers within the manufacturing and maintenance industry as members of a flexible, competitive, multi-skilled workforce.
As a matter of fact, today’s technology driven industries are forcibly looking at diploma students to fill up a lot of vacancies in their organisations when higher engineering skills may not be immediately required.
