About the College :

Acharya Institute of Technology(AIT) started in the year 2000 under the banner JMJ Education Society. AIT is affiliated to VTU, Belgaum and recognized by AICTE, Accrediated by NBA- New Delhi and has 11 under graduate courses and 4 post graduate courses. The institute has eco friendly campus of about 120 acres of land with multicolored and spacious buildings and breathes life with more than 2000 students constantly guided by qualified and experienced member of teaching and non teaching faculty. Nearly 150 foreign nationals from around 25 countries have enrolled in our institute under PIO quota. As per the 2011 survey conducted by outlook magazine, AIT has ranked 30th amongst the top 75 institutions in the private colleges category and stands 6th in the list for karnataka state.

About the Department :

The Department of Information Science and Engineering was started in the year 2000 with an intake of 60 students. Subsequently, in 2001, the intake was raised to 90 students and then raised to 120 students from the year 2011. The department has 21 teaching faculty members with rich experience in both teaching and industry committed for cause of quality education. The department has around 165 computers on local area network and Wi-fi with licensed software required as per the VTU curriculum and under Microsoft campus agreement. The internet facility of 40 Mbps is provided for all the students and staff. Computers lab facility is available even after the college hours. The department has department library facility with more than 250 titles and nearly 1000 volumes to cater the needs of the students. Training on advanced topics is conducted by the staff members to help student in the campus placement. The department organizes workshops, seminars and invited talks from experts frequently through the department technical forum “STEIGEN”.The department has signed MOU with NOVELL  for centre of excellence for conducting training on SUSE Linux. The department trains the students on Microsoft platform s in the Microsoft IT academy

About NACC-2011:

With the Aim/Motto of benefiting the students and young researchers in the fields of information processing, communication networks, the Department of Information Science & Engineering has taken initiative in conducting the National level conference NACC-2011.
NACC-2011 focuses on Advances in Computing and Communications and it will provide a forum for sharing insights, experiences and interaction on various facets of evolving technologies and patterns related to Computer Science, Information Technology and Electronics. The conference provides the most relevant opportunity to bring together students, researchers and practitioners from both academia and industry. The conference will include a peer reviewed program of technical sessions, workshops, tutorials, and demonstration sessions. Technical papers describing original, previously unpublished results are solicited in all areas of theory and practice of Computing, Communication and Information Technologies. The organizers of NACC-2011 as well as our attendees expect accepted papers to be presented at the conference.
