About Program

Expected Outcomes

  • To Bridge Theoretical and Applied Optics: To help students connect their foundational classroom learning in physical and geometrical optics—specifically regarding lenses, mirrors, interference, and diffraction—with real-world, large-scale fabrication processes.
  • To Demonstrate Multidisciplinary Applications: To illustrate the broad, cross-disciplinary nature of optics by highlighting the practical parallels between astronomical instrumentation and the field of optometry.
  • To Enhance Appreciation for Optical Instrumentation: To provide students with firsthand exposure to a state-of-the-art fabrication facility, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of complex optical instruments beyond standard clinical tools.
