About the Program

The UG Hindi Syllabus Orientation Programme organized by Bengaluru City University (BCU) is designed to familiarize undergraduate students and faculty with the updated Hindi curriculum under the State Education Policy (SEP) framework. Aimed at students entering I and III semesters, the program provides an in-depth overview of the revised syllabus, including prescribed literary texts, assessment methods, and language learning objectives. It also highlights the integration of contemporary themes such as translation, cinema studies, and digital tools into Hindi language education. This orientation ensures a smooth academic transition for students while helping educators effectively implement the new curriculum across affiliated colleges.

The Department of Hindi at Acharya Institute of Graduate Studies, established with the institute’s inception in 2005, plays a pivotal role in fostering linguistic, literary, and cultural knowledge among students. Rooted in India’s rich linguistic heritage, the department emphasizes the national and global relevance of Hindi as a medium of expression, communication, and cultural identity. Offering Hindi as a language and elective subject across various undergraduate programs, the department strives to create a dynamic environment where students not only gain linguistic proficiency but also develop an appreciation for classical and contemporary Hindi literature.

Vision of the department: The department encourages an interdisciplinary and inclusive approach by integrating literature, translation studies, mass communication, folklore, gender studies, and comparative literature into its pedagogy.
