About the Program

National Science Day is celebrated annually in India on February 28 to commemorate Sir C.V. Raman's 1928 discovery of the 'Raman Effect'. The program aims to popularize science, foster scientific temper, and showcase research through activities like science exhibitions, lectures, quizzes, and lab tours, poster presentation often revolving around a central theme. The theme for National Science Day 2026 is "Women in Science: Catalyzing Viksit Bharat". The theme aligns scientific advancement with India’s vision of becoming a developed nation while recognising the role of women researchers and innovators.

Objectives of the Program

  • Promote Scientific Temper: To encourage students to develop curiosity, logical thinking, and a scientific attitude toward understanding natural phenomena.
  • Create Awareness About Scientific Achievements: To highlight important scientific discoveries and the contributions of scientists, particularly Indian scientists.
  • Provide a Platform for Student Participation: To enable students to showcase their talents in activities such as quizzes, exhibitions, seminars, and paper presentations.
  • Enhance Interest in Science and Research: To inspire students to pursue higher studies and careers in science, technology, and research.

Expected Outcomes of the Program
