About the Program

The Workshop on Financial Instruments and Trading Mechanisms is a comprehensive learning initiative aimed at equipping participants with essential knowledge of modern financial markets. Objectives of the Program

  • To provide fundamental and practical knowledge on trading mechanisms in NCDEX, with a focus on futures and options contracts, enabling students to understand their role in commodity markets and risk management.
  • To familiarize students with the structure, types, and implications of corporate actions on stock prices and investor decisions, including dividends, stock splits, rights issues, and buybacks.
  • To enhance analytical skills by interpreting market trends and corporate announcements, and their impact on derivatives pricing and trading strategies in both commodity and equity markets.
  • To equip students with hands-on experience through mock trading simulations and case studies, helping bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world trading/investment decisions.

Expected Outcomes of the Program

  • Students will gain practical understanding of derivative instruments—specifically futures and options—used in commodity trading on NCDEX, including their pricing, trading strategies, and risk mitigation techniques.
  • Participants will be able to critically evaluate corporate actions announced by listed companies on BSE and assess their impact on share valuation, investor behaviour, and trading strategies.
