Exploring Spaces, Places, and Place-making
About the Program
The Site Visit for 3rd-Semester Architecture Students is designed to provide experiential learning beyond the classroom. By exploring real-world spaces, places, and practices of place-making, students gain practical insights into architectural design, urban context, and spatial planning. The visit encourages observation, analysis, and critical thinking, helping students connect theoretical knowledge with hands-on experiences that shape their understanding of architecture and the built environment.
Objectives of the Program
- Architecture design - III Focuses on Place making, and the structure of the studio is Experience- Exploration - Design . For the Exploration of different spaces and places students will be taken to Devanahalii Fort area and Ramanagara Silk Market Area which is a place in rich heritage context.
- Students will be collecting and collating the data at the site
- Students will be documenting the assimilated data as maps. graphs, and other visual medium
Expected Outcomes of the Program
- Students will be able to map the study of Devanahalli Fort Area and Ramanagara Silk Market Area understanding the different layers like neighbourhood, market areas, market street, pathways and other spaces, places and areas of transition.
- Students will be able understand the nuances of spaces and places and analyze the quality and character of the same
- Students will be able to come up with design intervention after thorough study of the place.
