About the Program

This session aims to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease, its symptoms, risk factors, and the importance of early detection and care. Organized to mark World Alzheimer’s Day 2025, the program seeks to educate students and the community on supporting individuals and families affected by the condition. Through expert talks, interactive discussions, and awareness activities, the session emphasizes compassion, brain health, and collective responsibility in addressing this growing global health challenge.

Meeting Objectives

By the end of this session, learners will be able to:
  • To spread knowledge about Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, reducing stigma and misconceptions associated with memory-related illnesses.
  • To encourage timely screening, diagnosis, and intervention for individuals showing signs of memory loss.
  • To recognize the role of caregivers and provide resources, education, and emotional support to help them manage patient care effectively.
  • To highlight lifestyle modifications (diet, exercise, cognitive activities, stress management) that can reduce risk or delay progression of Alzheimer’s.
  • To strengthen global and local advocacy for more research funding, innovative therapies, and better dementia-friendly policies.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the awareness session, participants will be able to:
  • Participants will be able to explain the meaning, causes, symptoms, and stages of Alzheimer’s disease.
  • Learners will identify the importance of early detection and recognize warning signs of dementia.
  • Participants will demonstrate reduced stigma and increased empathy towards individuals with Alzheimer’s and their families.
  • Learners will outline effective communication techniques, care strategies, and coping mechanisms for patients and caregivers.
  • Participants will describe preventive lifestyle measures that can reduce the risk or delay the onset of Alzheimer’s.
