About the Student Induction Programme

As new students enter an institution, they come with diverse thoughts, backgrounds and preparations. Student Induction Programme engages the fresher’s as they come into the institution, before regular classes start. At the stage of the induction, the incumbent’s learn about the institutional policies, processes, practices, culture and values and their mentor groups are formed. Student induction program is to help the new students adjust and feel comfortable in the new environment, inculcate in them the ethos and culture of the institution, help them bond with other students and faculty members, and expose them to a sense of larger purpose and self-exploration.

Objectives of the Program

  • To orient the students to the vision, mission, rules, regulations, and culture of the institution.
  • To familiarize students with the academic curriculum, clinical training, evaluation methods, and professional expectations in nursing.
  • To build a sense of belongingness and motivation among students towards the nursing profession.
  • To promote awareness about ethical values, professional conduct, and code of nursing practice.
  • To introduce available student support services such as library, laboratories, hostels, counselling, and extracurricular activities.
  • To foster interaction between faculty, peers, and seniors for building healthy relationships.
  • To encourage participation in cultural, sports, and community-based activities for holistic development.
  • To inspire professional identity formation by emphasizing the role of nurses in healthcare and society.

Expected Outcome of the Program

After the induction program, students will be able to:
  • Describe the vision, mission, and policies of the institution and demonstrate adherence to them.
  • Explain the BSc Nursing course structure, clinical requirements, and assessment methods.
  • Exhibit a positive attitude towards nursing as a profession and understand its ethical responsibilities.
  • Identify the available resources and support systems within the college and utilize them effectively.
  • Establish healthy relationships with faculty, peers, and seniors fostering teamwork and collaboration.
  • Participate actively in extracurricular and community-based programs.
  • Develop motivation to achieve academic excellence along with personal and professional growth.
  • Show an initial sense of professional identity and commitment to patient care and community service.
