About the Program

Global Handwashing Day is an annual global advocacy day dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding about the importance of hand hygiene in preventing diseases and saving lives. This year’s program, “Clean Hands, Healthy Future” – HASTHA (Helping Hands)-2025, emphasizes empowering school children to adopt proper handwashing practices as a lifelong healthy habit. The program at Government School, Keragundahalli, will include interactive health talks, demonstrations of proper handwashing techniques, role plays, songs, games, poster competitions, and group activities. By making hand hygiene education fun and participatory, the event aims to instill the value of clean hands among children, thereby preventing the spread of infections like diarrhoea, respiratory diseases, influenza, and other communicable illnesses.

Meeting Objectives

  • To create awareness among school children about the importance of proper handwashing in promoting health and preventing diseases.
  • To demonstrate the correct steps of handwashing using soap and water.
  • To engage children in fun, interactive activities (role play, songs, games) to reinforce the handwashing message.
  • To encourage children to practice regular hand hygiene before meals, after using the toilet, and after play.
  • To instill leadership among children to act as role models and spread handwashing practices within their families and communitie

Expected Outcomes

  • Improved knowledge among school children regarding the significance of hand hygiene.
  • Development of correct handwashing practices among the students.
  • Increased motivation among children to practice handwashing daily at critical times.
  • Children act as change agents, spreading awareness to family and community members.
