About the Program
The Anganwadi Health Programme is a community-based health promotion initiative aimed at improving the nutritional status, health awareness, and overall well-being of children below six years, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. The programme will focus on promoting optimal nutrition, exclusive breastfeeding and appropriate complementary feeding practices, timely immunization, growth monitoring, personal hygiene, and prevention of common childhood illnesses. Through health education sessions, demonstrations, and interactive activities, beneficiaries will be empowered with practical knowledge and skills to adopt healthy practices at home. The programme will also strengthen the utilization of Anganwadi and government health services, thereby contributing to the reduction of malnutrition, preventable diseases, and improvement in maternal and child health outcomes in the community.
Objectives of the Program
- Understand the importance of nutrition during pregnancy and early childhood.
- Identify signs of malnutrition and common childhood illnesses.
- Practice proper hand hygiene and personal cleanliness.
- Describe the importance of immunization and growth monitoring.
- Demonstrate correct breastfeeding and complementary feeding practices.
- Utilize available government health services effectively.
