About the Program

The Medical-Surgical Nursing Departmental Webinar is organized to enhance clinical knowledge and professional competencies among nursing students and faculty. The session features expert insights on current trends, advanced practices, and evidence-based approaches in medical-surgical nursing. It provides a platform for learning, discussion, and knowledge exchange to strengthen clinical decision-making and improve patient care outcomes.

  • Define Psychiatric emergencies commonly encountered in medical-surgical settings.
  • Identify early warning signs and clinical presentations of common psychiatric crises such as suicidal ideation, aggression, and delirium.
  • Describe evidence-based assessment tools and protocols for managing psychiatric emergencies.
  • Explain the role of nurses and multidisciplinary teams in crisis intervention and patient stabilization.
  • Discuss ethical and legal considerations in handling psychiatric emergencies in medical-surgical units.
