About Program

Outcome Based Education (OBE) is a learner-centred educational approach that focuses on the knowledge, skills, competencies, and attitudes that students are expected to demonstrate at the completion of a course or programme. It emphasizes clearly defined learning outcomes, effective teaching-learning strategies, appropriate assessment methods, and continuous improvement of educational processes.

In nursing education, OBE plays a vital role in preparing competent and professionally responsible graduates. It enables faculty to integrate theoretical knowledge with clinical skills, critical thinking, communication, ethical practice, problem-solving, and evidence-based decision-making. Proper alignment of Course Outcomes (COs), Programme Outcomes (POs), teaching-learning activities, and assessment methods helps institutions effectively monitor and enhance student achievement.

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Smt. Nagarathnamma College of Nursing is organizing a seminar on “Outcome Based Education” scheduled for 16 September 2026. The seminar aims to enhance faculty members’ understanding of the principles, components, implementation, and assessment of OBE. It will provide opportunities to learn about formulating measurable outcomes, CO-PO mapping, outcome attainment, and the use of assessment results for continuous academic improvement.

The seminar is expected to strengthen a culture of quality enhancement, accountability, learner-centred education, and academic excellence, contributing to the overall development of competent nursing professionals and supporting institutional quality assurance initiatives.
