About the Program

This seminar is organized to spread awareness about hearing loss, prevention, and rehabilitation, while highlighting the challenges faced by individuals with hearing impairments. Marking International Deafness Day, the program brings together experts, students, and the community to discuss early detection, assistive technologies, communication methods, and inclusive practices. It aims to foster empathy, promote accessibility, and encourage collective efforts toward building a more inclusive society.

Objectives of the Program

  • Increase public understanding about deafness, hearing loss, and communication barriers faced by people with hearing impairments.
  • Highlight the importance of newborn screenig, early diagnosis, vaccination (like rubella), and prevention of noise-induced hearing loss.
  • Support equal opportunities for education, employment, and public services for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals.
  • Promote the learning and recognition of sign languages as official and accessible communication tools worldwide.

Expected Outcomes of the Program

  • Explain the causes, risk factors, and preventive measures of deafness and hearing loss.
  • Describe the challenges faced by deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals in daily life.
  • Recognize the importance of early screening for hearing impairment and appropriate referrals.
  • Identify key strategies for preventing noise-induced or infection-related hearing loss.
