The primary objective of the program is to impart the knowledge in the areas of Designing the product by understanding the persona and solving the problems with the approach of sustainability and the aesthetics. The students should competence with a set of tools and methods for product design and development. They will gain the confidence in their own abilities to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability. This will create awareness of the role of multiple functions in creating a new product (e.g. marketing, finance, industrial design, engineering, production).

The objective is also to engage the student in continuous dialogue and discourses for better understanding the requirements of cross cultural modern Society. It will encourage an understanding of personal aims, goals and abilities through self reflection and self directed Projects.


BVA / B.Des in Product Design

  • Course Duration : 4 years
  • Eligibility : Pass in 10+2 / Higher Secondary (HS) / Pre University (PUC) / 'A' Level (with 12 years of schooling) or its equivalent with English as one of the languages. Shall have secured a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate in core subjects.


Course Outcome

The course enable to understand and design the products to support the environmental friendly and sustainable in nature. The Course provides knowledge about consumer products, custom based products design, design Process and the sustainability of the design. Students will able to decide with high levels of intelligence consistently throughout the innovation process. They will validate and /or develop appropriate proof of proposed concepts (Prototypes). With the study of requirement they will propose innovation solutions as systems that evolves over time and define products and services as clear business models with market context.

Consistently create original, appropriate, aesthetically pleasing, and desirable products. It also introduces the digital interface and digital Medium and its application in design and enables 3D representations of the Design. The students employ appropriate research methods with empathy to discover problems faced by human related to innovation context.
