Objectives of the Program
- Educate participants about Thalassemia, its types, causes, and symptoms.
- Highlight the importance of carrier screening, premarital counseling, and prenatal diagnosis.
- Emphasize the role of safe and regular blood transfusions in patient survival.
- Address myths and promote empathy toward individuals living with thalassemia.
- Encourage community participation in supporting patients and advocacy initiatives.
- Provide knowledge on transfusion therapy, iron chelation, and emerging treatments like bone marrow transplant.
Expected Outcomes of the Program
- Understand it as a hereditary blood disorder affecting hemoglobin production.
- Recognize common symptoms such as fatigue, anemia, and growth issues.
- Understand basic genetic transmission (carrier vs affected).
