About the Program

No Smoking Day is observed annually on the second Wednesday of March to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco use and to encourage individuals to quit smoking. The program aims to educate students and community members about smoking-related diseases such as lung cancer, heart disease, and respiratory disorders. Activities include health education sessions, poster presentations, role plays, and pledge-taking ceremonies to promote a tobacco-free lifestyle. The initiative also provides information on cessation support services and counseling. Overall, the program fosters a positive attitude toward healthy living and strengthens community commitment to a smoke-free environment.

Objectives of the Program

  • To create awareness about the harmful effects of smoking and tobacco use.
  • To educate students and community members about diseases related to smoking (lung cancer, COPD, heart disease, stroke).
  • To motivate smokers to quit and adopt a healthy lifestyle.
  • To promote a tobacco-free campus and community.
  • To encourage youth to resist peer pressure and avoid starting smoking. support systems
  • To provide information about smoking cessation services
