About the Program
The Smt. Nagarathnamma College of Nursing, a constituent of Acharya Institutes known for its academic excellence and focus on holistic student development, organized a significant educational webinar on the theme of digital addiction and its impact on mental health. The session, titled “Trapped By a Screen & Lost in Mental Well-Being,” aimed to sensitize nursing students about the growing challenge of compulsive screen usage and its psychological repercussions.
Objectives of the Program
The objectives of the webinar “Digital Addiction – Trapped By a Screen & Lost in Mental Well-Being” were to:
- Create awareness among nursing students about the concept and growing prevalence of digital addiction.
- Enhance understanding of the impact of excessive screen time on mental, emotional, and social well-being.
- Identify early signs and symptoms of digital addiction and its behavioural consequences.
- Sensitize students to the effects of digital addiction on academic performance, sleep patterns, and interpersonal relationships.
- Promote healthy digital habits and responsible use of technology.
- Encourage self-reflection and adoption of coping strategies to maintain mental well-being in the digital era.
- Equip future nurses with knowledge to educate patients and the community about digital addiction and mental health promotion.
Expected Outcomes of the Program
At the end of the webinar “Digital Addiction – Trapped By a Screen & Lost in Mental Well-Being,” the participants were expected to:
- Gain adequate knowledge about digital addiction and its effects on mental health.
- Develop awareness regarding the psychological, emotional, and behavioural consequences of excessive screen usage.
- Identify early warning signs of digital addiction in themselves and others.
- Demonstrate improved attitudes toward balanced and mindful use of digital devices.
- Adopt healthy digital practices to enhance personal mental well-being.
- Apply the acquired knowledge in academic, clinical, and community settings.
- Function as responsible future nurses by educating peers, patients, and the community on prevention of digital addiction.
