About the Program
World TB Day is observed annually on March 24 to raise awareness about tuberculosis (TB) and to strengthen global efforts toward its elimination. The 2026 theme, “Yes! We Can End TB: Led by Countries, Powered by People,” emphasizes strong government commitment along with active community participation in combating TB. The program focuses on educating students and the community about early detection, treatment adherence, prevention strategies, and reducing stigma associated with TB. Activities include expert lectures, awareness rallies, poster presentations, screening campaigns, and pledge-taking ceremonies. The initiative highlights the importance of collective responsibility in achieving a TB-free society.
Objectives of the Program
- To create awareness about the causes, symptoms, transmission, and prevention of tuberculosis.
- To emphasize the importance of early diagnosis and complete treatment (DOTS strategy).
- To reduce stigma and discrimination toward TB patients.
- To promote community participation in TB control programs.
- To encourage collaboration between healthcare providers, government bodies, and the public.
- To strengthen commitment toward achieving national TB elimination targets.
