About the Program

The Department of Medical Surgical Nursing at Smt Nagarathnamma College of Nursing is organizing a webinar on “Parkinson’s Disease” in observance of World Parkinson’s Disease Day on 14th April 2026 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. This webinar aims to enhance awareness and understanding of Parkinson’s disease, a progressive neurological disorder affecting movement and quality of life. The session will focus on its causes, clinical manifestations, management, and nursing care approaches. It provides a valuable platform for students and healthcare professionals to update their knowledge and promote compassionate, evidence-based care for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease.

Objectives of the Program

  • To enhance knowledge of Parkinson's disease, including its causes, pathophysiology, and clinical manifestations.
  • To provide understanding of current diagnostic methods and multidisciplinary management strategies, including pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches.
  • To strengthen nursing competencies in the care and rehabilitation of patients with Parkinson’s disease, focusing on improving quality of life.
  • To promote awareness and early identification of symptoms to facilitate timely intervention and supportive care.

Expected Outcomes of the Program

  • Participants will gain improved knowledge and understanding of Parkinson's disease, including its symptoms, progression, and management.
  • Participants will be able to apply appropriate nursing interventions and evidence-based care strategies in managing patients with Parkinson’s disease.
  • Participants will develop skills in early recognition of signs and complications, facilitating timely referral and intervention.
