World Breastfeeding Week is observed annually from 1st to 7th August to promote, protect, and support breastfeeding practices. The programme aims to create awareness regarding the importance of early initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, and continued breastfeeding up to two years and beyond with appropriate complementary feeding. It also encourages families, healthcare professionals, communities, and policymakers to build sustainable support systems that empower mothers to breastfeed successfully.
